That 久 really threw me, I knew I had never seen that katakana character before. I had to look it up and learned that it is a kanji character. 😄

It evokes the american stereotype of the German language, that emphasizes a gutteral shouting akin to the speeches of famous German artist Adolf Hitler (which is also not accurate to german, as most germans speak in a softer tone)

One time, while I was walking to the 7-11, a lady who might have been a little intoxicated asked me, in Japanese, for directions to the supermarket. I was surprised that she asked me, but even more surprised that my vocabulary was up to the task. I hope she made it there ok.

In South Korea, I would go out to dinner with a Chinese-American friend, and the waitresses would automatically address him. The look on the waitress’s face when I busted out the Korean and he said in English, “I don’t speak Korean” was priceless, and it happened many times. He was quite fluent in Chinese and English.

0:51 "To sneak" Actually doesn't make that sentence incorrect, but it does change the meaning a little bit. If you use to sneak, it means you see a cat, you grab it, and you sneak it into your neighbor's yard. If you use sneaking, it means you just see it, you don't force it into your neighbor's yard, and the cat just goes in on it's own.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this as a Non Japanese person The hardest thing about learning Japanese, though whilst the alphabet and kanji and all that can be confusing in and of itself, the sentence structure is what destroyed me. I had to drop Japanese as a subject, I most certainly could have persevered and tried to figure it out but yeh, for me it was so backwards I just couldn't I feel like the English language is less reliant upon sentence structure, you can jumble up the sentence and still make it work somehow The English language is a chopped salad, The Japanese language is a finely prepared Sushi Roll, everything in its place - "Settei" or French for Mise en Place, or English for "set up, Prepared and Organised"

If you have self confidence then you don't need a tattoo unless you were incarcerated. To many people tattoos (outside of a pententiary) is an expression of low self esteem or living in gang controlled neighborhoods.

I'm 70% through Busuu A1 course and I really enjoy it. Just some points to keep it mind: 1) "watashi wa" later disappears when it's not needed in the context so it's mostly just at the beginning 2) particles are well explained step by step, so for instance "ni" is to tell time, then to tell direction etc. I like it that they don't throw everything at once. 3) The app is just to get started and as soon as you. Once you get the basics start IMMERSION: this is a crucial thing when learning a language. Quickly you'll pick up how "normal" Japanese tl;dr it's a great app to get started (way above Duolingo let's say), just keep some things in mind and use other sources too
